My Veteran and Gratitude in 2022

Is it really that time of year again? Time to pause and thank our service members who have placed themselves in harms way to protect our civil liberties and freedoms. I’ll wake up and thank my husband. I’ll call my dad and thank him. Veteran’s Day is so different than Memorial Day for us because it’s about my husband who served alongside those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

My husband just celebrated 21 years in the Navy. We didn’t do anything special except have a little cake at home. We did however complete a form for the school so they can acknowledge his service during a school presentation. That’s pretty huge for me. My children have attended a school before where there was absolutely nothing said or done for Veteran’s Day. We appreciate being appreciated!

One of my favorite photos. This was taken when my husband met our 6 week-old daughter for the first time.

Feeling the SCHOOL CULTURE appreciates our military service means a lot to us. It’s the difference between feeling welcomed into the community, instead of feeling waited out. It helps establish trust at the IEP table because I know they appreciate our sacrifices and will want to do what is best for us. It really warms my heart in addition to making my life that much easier.

This Veteran’s Day, I would like to THANK YOU, who thank me for our service. It means a lot that you take the time to out of your lives to say a few simple words, really it does.

Happy Veteran’s Day to all of those who serve and have served,

Chelsea
